Move or Build an Extension

Here at UK Demolition & Construction in Gloucestershire we are receiving more and more enquiries for home extensions. When we talk to the customers about their plans, many of them have considered moving, but have taken the decision to stay put and extend their property.

We think that this is a wise decision they have made for a number of reasons, and here are some of them!

1. Cost – To buy a bigger house will cost more money, before you even consider the moving costs, redecorating costs, solicitors fees, stamp duty etc etc etc.

2. Design Control – When you build your own extension you can create it exactly as you want it (subject to space, design and planning restrictions). It also allows you to incorporate design features and decorate it exactly as you want it.

3. Added Property Value – It adds money to your current investment, generally allowing you to see a profit. If you buy a new property the likelihood is it is priced to include profit for the existing owners …. leaving you to pay the current market value

4. Saves you hassle – You know the area, know your neighbours, the kids are at school locally, the vet is on the doorstep, your gym is close etc etc etc ….. If you don’t find the perfect home on your doorstep it means extra travelling or big changes for you and your family!

5. Council Tax Savings – Some extensions are exempt of extra council tax so you don’t pay any more for the extra space. The chances are you will if you move to a bigger house!
